Title: The Advanced Analytics Centre at AstraZeneca – “transforming drug development through applied data science”
Abstract: Jim will talk about the group he leads at AZ – the Advanced Analytics Centre. The AAC is a department of approximately 30 clinical data scientists, distributed across 3 countries, and representing 3 distinct skillsets – Statistical Innovation, Scientific Computing, Biomedical & Health Informatics. This group is unique in the pharmaceutical industry. The origins and structure of the team will be covered, as well as specific examples of data science work that has fed directly into the development of new medicines. More recently, Jim has become a visiting researcher at HeRC and will also talk about the joint research projects that have been kicked off between the two organisations.
