In collaboration with The Administrative Data Research Network (ADRN) and the International Population Data Linkage Network (IPDLN), The Farr Institute of Health Informatics Research is pleased to announce the 2016 International Population Data Linkage Conference, taking place at Swansea University Bay Campus, Wales from 22-26 August 2016.

Hosted by the current Director of the International Population Data Linkage Network (IPDLN) and Co-Deputy Director of the The Farr Institute Professor David V Ford, this unique international conference is designed to provide researchers, policy makers, practitioners, administrators, regulators, and data guardians with opportunities to learn more about the cutting edge population data linkage work that is underway across the world.

A scientific committee of global data linkage experts has been formed with the responsibility of shaping the conference scientific programme. The committee includes Dr Catharine Goddard, Dr Goran Nenadic, Professor Tjeerd van Staa and Dr Zisis Kozlakidis of The Farr Institute of Health Informatics Research and ADRN Directors Professor Chris Dibben and Dr Dermot O’Reilly.

With a focus on ‘Linking Data – Improving Lives’ the 2016 conference will provide delegates with an opportunity to showcase their own achievements  in data linkage while listening to talks from international leaders in the field.

The call for abstracts is now open for delegates wishing to present on the subject of ‘Linking Data – Improving Lives’ and the following sub-themes:

  • Analytical approaches to distributed data
  • Data and linkage quality
  • Advanced analytics
  • Privacy, regulation & governance
  • Applied projects
  • Linking to emerging data types
  • Public engagement
  • Capacity building
  • Delivering and measuring impact

The International Population Data Linkage Network (IPDLN) facilitates communication between centres that specialise in data linkage and users of the linked data. The producers and users alike are committed to the systematic application of data linkage to produce community benefit in the population and health-related domains.

Over 30 participants from Canada, the UK, Australia and New Zealand attended the 2008 inaugural meeting of the IPDLN (then known as the IHDLN), held in London, UK and hosted by the Research and Development Directorate of the National Health Service. The IPDLN now boasts over 400 members.
