Seminar: Latent class modelling of BMI, prostate cancer incidence and mortality

US-based Dr Michael Cook from the National Cancer Institute will be visiting the Health eResearch Centre on Friday 19 May.
Currently collaborating with HeRC researchers on our obesity trajectories and cancer work, he will be presenting a general overview of recent published studies, upcoming unpublished results, and studies underway on latent class modelling of BMI, prostate cancer incidence and mortality.
Biography
Dr Michael B. Cook earned his B.Sc. in genetics at the University of Nottingham, and a Ph.D. in epidemiology at the University of Leeds. Dr Cook joined the Hormonal and Reproductive Epidemiology Branch as a visiting postdoctoral fellow in 2007 before becoming a research fellow in 2008. He was appointed to the position of tenure-track investigator in 2011. Dr Cook’s research interests include the epidemiology of esophageal adenocarcinoma—specifically, sex differences and the effects of obesity in the natural history of this disease—as well as hormonal and genetic mechanisms of prostate carcinogenesis.
